Smt. Gayatri Krishnaveni Lakshmanan
SMT.GAYATRI KRISHNAVENI LAKSHMANAN is one of the senior dancers at Chennai Bharatanatyam scene. She is the daughter and disciple of the legendary Smt. KRISHNAVENI LAKSHMANAN of Kalakshetra.
Gayatri has had intensive training in Bharatanatyam, Carnatic vocal and Instrumental Veena at Kalakshetra.
She has had the special guidance of Gurus S.Sharada, Sarada Hoffman and Prof.N.S.Jayalakshmi. Gayatri has been awarded with many awards namely Yuva Kala Bharathi Bharat Kalachar, T.S.Parthasarathy award from the music academy, Balasaraswathi Endowment Award from the Krishna Gana Sabha, Bharatakalabhooshanam, Natyarangam Senior Dancers Award and Sangeet Natak Academy’s Ustad Bismillahkhan Yuva Puraskar.
She has travelled all over the world, enthralling the audience with her captivating stage presence and novel performances. She is Also well trained in folk dances of India and kalari payattu, a martial art form of Kerala, special Karanas course under Dr.Padma Subramanian.
She runs her KRISHNADHWANI SCHOOL OF NATYA at Chennai where she imparts training to many children. She is an A grade artist of the Doordarshan Kendra.
Gayatri has been involved with various NGOs and is passionate about teaching dance to the underprivileged children. She also does dance therapy at the Children’s Cancer Institute Chennai. Gayatri has been a regular participant for Jana Bharatam organized by Anma Jyothi Natyarangam, which takes dancing to the local corporation schools. She has been acclaimed for her social themes like Leprosy, Cancer rand Aids awareness, child abuse and gender equality performances.

Gayatri has many seniors students abroad who learn through modern technology and have carved a Niche for themselves. Many of her senior students have won dance competitions around the world and have become performers.
She believes that her Art should be used for a Good, Noble cause rather than just being an entertainment.
